The scale of size of distribution centres is increasing and there is a constant drive towards lowering carbon footprints.
This DIRFT development incorporates an 800m long x 9m high embankments at a 700 slope to maximise efficient use of rail space and storage.
Norder assisted the Principal Contractor, VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd in undertaking independent analysis of the solution to allow prediction of settlement performance and give guidance on appropriate engineering. The construction of this embankment was been extensively discussed in Ground Engineering where one key success was the use of stabilised in situ soils between the geogrid reinforcement instead of imported granular fill.
